PSA for the Durham, NC area

There's a gem of a theater in downtown Durham, NC, that you owe it to yourself to go to.  And after going you'll realize you owe it to the theater, and to Durham, to go again.

They host live performances and run new, indie movies, but what I love most are their film festivals and their Retrofantasma double features, which alternates between regular Retro and Retro classic.  They show sci-fi, horror, and fantasy mostly.  The theater actually brings in 35mm reels that they borrow from studios for these events and festivals.  Sometimes they screen very well known movies, and sometimes they'll show something rather obscure.  Sometimes the film is brilliant. and sometimes it is laughably bad or dated.  I must confess, my favorite genre is bad, especially 80's bad which they occasionally have.  It's a real service that anyone in the area should take advantage of, and during Retro you get two movies for 8 dollars which is a really good deal.  And the building has such character.  They also serve beer.
