Who doesn’t love a sweet little tea cup? Their light and dainty shape and decorative motifs (often hand painted) render the tea cup highly collectable. There are of course very high end pieces, but even the reproductions and less expensive sets are beautiful and perfectly worth having.
Unfortunately, for Americans at least, the tea ceremony that once thrived as recently as the early 20th century has since lost favor with the public. I myself have tried to use my tea sets for guests, but find them too small for the modern tea drinker- the novelty soon wears off as guests keep requesting refills.

*It's also worth noticing the ash tray in the picture above. My Dad made in grade school as a school project. It was a Mother's Day gift for his Mom- who does not and never has smoked.

love the note about Grandma's ash tray!
