Have you ever seen that wonderful painting of the boating party by Renoir? Like a lot of the French impressionist paintings it is vibrant and full of movement and commotion. I have so often imagined myself amongst the bustling and gaiety. Now thanks to a unique exhibit, on display until October 31st, in Graham you can do just that:

Beyond the Frame: Impressionism Revisited is a collection of life sized models of classic French Impressionist paintings. Artist J. Seward Johnson (grandson to THE co-founder of Johnson and Jonson), is behind the exhibit and has done an amazing job at bringing these already timeless pieces of art to the third dimension.

Touching and posing with the art is strongly encouraged and is, quite frankly, hard not to do.
The house that now hosts the Alamance County Arts Council is itself a treat. It was built in the 1870’s and has a most interesting history itself. The Council has done a commendable job in bringing it back to its original state.
